Hemorrhoids get swollen when the pressure of the vessels increase. The increased pressure is usually caused by a lot of factors that I have outlined below. Pregnancy causes the swelling since the uterus gets to enlarge and increase in pressure.
This condition may also be caused by a past surgery of the rectum. If one gets injuries in the spinal or rarely stays in the right posture, they are likely to be affected by this condition. Consumption of foods that are of low fiber makes the vessels to increase pressure causing these swellings.
Colon cancer is one condition that causes the hemorrhoids to swell since it makes the intestines to exert pressure that makes the rectum swell. The area gets itchy when the swellings release mucus around. These swellings may lead to a lot of skin tags that are usually felt at the edge of the anus that makes it hard to clean and brings about another infection.
In case a physical examination does not give results, one is recommended for a scan. This condition can be treated by several methods like home remedies that are easier to perform at home. Avoiding intake of spicy foods helps in reducing inflammation.
One I advised to sit in a warm water bath that covers the anal area and the hips to help reduce the inflammation. To avoid irritation, one is supposed to wipe the area gently after the bath. It is advisable that one uses some petroleum jelly since it forms a protection on the area to stop damage and itchiness.
It is essential to take a bed rest since this reduces the pressure that causes the irritation. For a pregnant person, they are advised to lay in bed on the sides to help relax the vessels and reduce the irritation. It is important to avoid using much pressure on the anal area to help relax the vessels.
By wearing cotton pants and loose clothing one is able to prevent the unnecessary moisture from building up and causing irritation. By use of ice packs being placed on the affected area helps in reduction of pain and irritation. One needs to avoid taking much time in the toilet since this causes the vessels to enlarge. Inflammation can be reduced by sitting in a position where the leg is lifted up a bit.
